how is it already june? how is it that we mark three years in uganda this month? how is odin 10 months old today (june 2)? arg, time goes right by. plenty doing on our end. i was in karamoja for a week. paige and odin were in west nile for three days. we leave for a big trip (all together…there’s a concept) on sunday. jump ahead for more. pictures, video, links, it’s the total package.
had mexican tonight. for reals. found some old el paso corn tortillas at a store (ranchers, if you live in KLA and want 8 corn tortillas for 12,500/=), still have some fajita seasoning from my mom’s xmas care package, got black beans from up north. check out the results:
I got back from a week in karamoja (that’s northeast region of uganda, +some kenya and sudan) shooting program activities for save the children in uganda. there were challenges but i’m really happy with a lot of the stuff that i got. pictures? check out my post over at philsgood photo a day. here’s a sneak peek:
paige had meetings up north and in west nile while i was in karamoja, so that meant she had to travel with odin. she and odin and nanny florence and driver richard all piled into the car for the eight hour trip and odin had a great three days. even with 16 of 72 hours spent in a car seat.
here’s some recent (today) video of the boy:
in the above i’m pretty sure odin is saying why does dad always make me do these things and why can’t he go on another trip so mom and i can have some fun play time without all the stress?
on sunday we leave for probably my most anticipated trip of our whole time in uganda. we’re off to kidepo national park in the very northeast corner next to kenya and sudan. by far the most remote park in the country and from what i’ve seen it has the most classically lion king african landscape. previously you could only fly there which meant an extra $2000 to charter the plane, and the only lodging available is $375. per night. per person. cost prohibitive. now that driving is possible that means we can pack our own food and camp in the park. we are traveling with two other families, one of them our best friends who are moving back to the states in three weeks. :( so this is a big time last hurrah trip. on the way home we will all travel through karamoja spending nights at both the places i just stayed.
packing three cameras and averaging more than one spare tire per vehicle. you know, everything i do i try to keep expectations low…but it is so hard not getting excited for this trip. you can definitely expect the full report.
thanks for tuning in!

OMG! I am so impressed with Odin on that ladder!! Etienne has finally started sort of swimming across the floor…no crawling yet, but I think it is imminent. Wow! I am going to have to go watch that video again!
