now that i’m gone a bunch with photo jobs and such, we have a nanny around more often. she’s here on some of the days that i’m home, too, because there’s plenty of work to be done when i’m back from shooting. i definitely don’t have the multitasking skills to get my stuff done and take care of odin for the day. but my favorite days are still when the two of us get to hang and play and go out and about. pictures and more after the jump.
for the most part, our days go something like this. on weekdays, paige gets up with odin when he wakes up, which is in the 6-7am range. she’s with him until she has to leave on her grueling 25-yard commute to work, around 8:30, when i take over for the day (weekends, we switch roles so paige can sleep in, and then i have the day free if i want). i bring him to her when he’s hungry or if i’m having trouble getting him to sleep, which is sometimes.
otherwise it’s just me and him for the day. today we went grocery shopping, checked out the new mall that just opened two weeks ago, nakumatt. a little overwhelming, but we managed. odin likes the grocery store. he stands in front of the cart and we go zipping around. after a while he wants his dad to hold him so we finish up the chores like that, and he gets to sit on the belt while they scan the items.
He likes his car seat and usually falls asleep on the way home, and if we’re lucky i can get him from there to a nap without much fuss.
good times. i don’t think there are too many stay at home dads, so i feel pretty lucky that we get to hang out like this. paige comes home around 5-6pm and does most/all of his going to bed routine (reading, bath, etc) while i make dinner, which yesterday involved me calling the favorite indian restaurant for delivery.
here’s a then-and-now of odin. first is 48 hours old, arriving home from the hospital. second is same view mid april 2009, around 8 1/2 months. same car seat (different pattern) and same fleece pad shows scale.
