no rest for the weary

so our lives revolve around odin nowadays. no surprise there i guess. this week has been fun in that the doc took him off the lights for a while to see how his bilirubin levels respond on his own. the upside being that we’ve been able to take him for walks and boat rides and stuff. we had another blood test (number 12?) today and will see what they tell us. meanwhile we’ve had a few other adventures…

odin got his passport application sent in the other day. we took care of it right here. in brainerd. it was kind of a production because walgreens didn’t know how to take baby passport pictures but the third time was a charm. and then we couldn’t pay cash for the application but fortunately the post office was next door so it didn’t take long to get the money order. there were some oddities on application. it asked for paige’s first, middle, and last(maiden) name. no one knew if it should be her current (anderson) or maiden(elizabeth) middle name though. we settled on what her name was at birth. they didn’t ask for my maiden middle name(andrew) though. it asked for odin’s occupation. we put “child”. later i kicked myself for not putting “boy of destiny”. when odin is five years old, he’ll have a valid passport with an eyes-closed newborn picture. his stats will be height 20″, eye color blue, hair color blonde. funny.

his new social security card and birth certificate came the very day we filled out the application, so that timing was good.

both parents have to be present for baby passports with all the necessary proof of identity and parenthood. i’m all for a little extra vigilance to stop child trafficking.

ok. more soon.

xoxo phil

It’s good to read that things are going well. Connor was yellow too. It seemed to me that it took a long time for him to pink up, but he’s pretty pasty white now.

If you’re really in Brainerd, Katie and I will be there with the boys on Wednesday through Labor Day. My cell number is on the Surly list.

Congratulations again! He is absolutely adorable. I especially loved the way you described him as ’soft’ in your photo comments. Precious.

I find it hilarious that they require such a specific portrait at such a young age. I guess Odin is already an international man of mystery :)
